The University of Bangui was created in 1969 after the dissolution of the Foundation of Higher Education in Central Africa (FESAC) to meet the urgent training needs of national frameworks.
Since 1971, the University of Bangui is an institution of higher education at both national and international.
The basic objectives of the university who are training and research were refined and completed. Thus, it aims to:

- Train senior and middle
- Undertake basic and applied research that may lead to the provision of services
- To promote the national culture and preserve the national identity
- Providing advice through the expertise
- To develop and to transfer knowledge, know-how, expertise, technology and high-level professional in the chosen specialty
- Promote entrepreneurship and the pursuit of self-employment
