Kenya launched on Wednesday a computer-based system to enable teachers and students to share texbooks online. This system allowed  1,050 schools to connect a data center at the Kenya Science Teachers campus in Nairobi, it will offer past examination papers, textbooks and study guides.

Education minister Sam Ongeri said during the launch of the center that the network would create equality as all schools in the country will access similar educational materials. According to him this center will also raise the level of computer use in teaching and learning.

The government planned also to provide solar panels in areas with no electricity this initiative will allow all students to be in the same schools conditions;

Recognising the needs of students and teachers, the minister said that continuous innovation improvement will be done. To achieve that, the center will work closely with specialised institutions like Kenya Institute of Education and Kenya Staff Institute.

Officials said the center would collabrate with universities, among others, to ensure research in technology helps teaching and learning at schools.
