The University of Douala was created and organized in 1993 she inherited the structures of the university center then composed of the School of Economic and Commercial Sciences (ESSEC) and the Ecole Normale of Technical Education (ENSET).

With about 40,000 students, 600 teachers and almost as many administrative staff, the University of Douala more than 10 years after the university reform, is as one of the largest with its 11 institutions but also as a leader in professionalization in Cameroon with 72 vocational programs.

The University comprises 11 institutions:

The School of Economic and Commercial Sciences (ESSEC)

The Faculty of Industrial Engineering (FGI)

The University Institute of Technology (IUT)

The Faculty of Medicine and Pharmaceutical Sciences (FMSP)

The Institute of Fine Arts (IBA)

The Institute of Fisheries Science (ISH)

The Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FLSH)

The Faculty of Law and Political Science (FSJP)

The Faculty of Sciences (FS)

The Faculty of Applied Economics and Management (FSEG)
